La història de Lp Method

Linguapuncture S.L. és una empresa ben consolidada, amb 10 anys d'experiència en el desenvolupament de software per a ensenyar anglès mitjançant ordinador.

Fins ara, LpMethod ha estat disponible en CD, i ha gaudit d'un gran èxit. Primer va ser utilitzat en acadèmies d'idiomes i escoles de secundària, i posteriorment, en moltes empreses multinacionals com Repsol, Celanese, BASF i d'altres.

Degut a aquest èxit, hem decidit oferir-ho online, de manera que el programa estigui disponible per a tothom per millorar el seu anglès. Pot ser utilitzat en qualsevol moment i lloc.

El futur

Volem adaptar-nos a Internet i al món que està evolucionant exponencialment al nostre voltant, i degut a la globalització, la necessitat de dominar diferents idiomes es converteix en un imperatiu

Per aquesta raó, l'eina de LP Method ha estat dissenyada per poder afegir constantment més exercicis d'anglès, i ens permetrà utilitzar la plataforma per a ensenyar altres llengües de rellevància internacional.

  • THE FIRST 12 LESSONS AND BEYOND (1979)
    This was my first book and was aimed at helping new teachers starting out in the profession. The essence of the method is expressed throughout in the leitmotif: SLOW, LOUD and CLEAR.
  • ENGLISH SOUNDS EASY (1981)
    Two-cassette guide to English pronunciation with accompanying transcript. Includes International Phonetic Alphabet booklet with multiple examples and exercises.
  • SPANISH SOUNDS SIMPLE (1981)
    Single-cassette guide to Spanish pronunciation. Ancillary aid for Celtic House courses for foreign learners of Spanish.
  • NEW TEACHERS' GUIDE TO BASIC GRAMMAR (1983)
    Born of the reality that many new teachers are surprised by Spanish pupils' knowledge of grammar, especially with regard to tense names. Despite their qualifications, this can be a problem for inexperienced teachers who are unaccustomed to using these terms.
  • FIRST AIDS (1986)
    Covers the main pitfalls of Spanish students of English. I have been told it's perfect bedside reading, ideal for insomniacs.
  • SECOND AIDS (1987) -aka ORANGE-FLAVOURED GRAMMAR-
    Covers the 20 main grammar structures in English. (Bilingual explanations)
  • THIRD AIDS (1988) -aka LEMON AIDS-
    Covers the more difficult structures in English and deals with certain aspects of idiomatic speech. (Bilingual explanations)
  • POSSIBLE AIDS (1988)
    Here you will find all the words and expressions that educated people, like you and me, never ever use. It contains strong taboo expressions, so if you're easily offended, don't read it! But beware, the entries are "hidden" somewhere in all "decent" standard dictionaries.
  • GRAMMAR CRY 1 (1989)
    Deals with modal verbs and compares main and secondary tenses in English and Spanish.
  • GRAMMAR CRY 2 (1989)
    Shows you that by achieving optimum yield from about 700 words you can speak English fluently, albeit within an evidently limited grammatical and lexical scope.
  • GRAMMAR CRY 3 (1989)
    Presents a different approach to verbal idioms.
  • THE TEN COMMANDMENTS (1989)
    This brief work outlines the ten most common mistakes in English made by foreign students. They are the mistakes to be avoided. Includes multiple exercise-types and a "troubleshooting" section.
  • FISHING (1989)
    Pupils are introduced to new and interesting expressions in English. The underlying theory is that people are attracted to certain words and word groups more than they are to others. If a pupil hears or reads the Phrasal Verbs TAKE ON and CHICKEN OUT, which one do you think will capture his imagination? If you said CHICKEN OUT then this book could be for you!
  • PITFALLS TESTS (1990)
    A series of 24 listening tests ranging from Beginner to Advanced levels. Answers are in Multiple Choice form. The most interesting feature of this compilation is the 15 different native accents the pupil will hear on tape, ranging from Australian to Welsh.
  • AIDS UNITED (1990)
    Provides oral and written practise for students who have done the main AIDS series. Anecdotes, guessing games, historical chronicles, etc. provide the background in which all the main grammar structures in the AIDS series are elicited. The essential objective of Aids United is pleasant drillwork, as distinct from high-pressure, unadorned drilling.
  • TRANSLATION TECNIQUES (1990)
    This work is designed to help pupils and others to express ideas which require equally difficult grammar structures in other languages (viz. Spanish, French and German) as they do in English. When the different languages were invented, unfortunately (for most people anyhow) there was no international consensus involved. Each race just made up there own rules. Translating from one language to another is often a case of trying to fit round pegs into square holes. (currently being updated).
  • PHRASAL VERB BOULEVARD (1991)
    This book deals with Phrasal Verbs and examines their origin. Bearing in mind that seeing Phrasal Verbs for the first time can be a distressing period for "innocent" pupils, such a huge area of language is taken in very careful stages and is covered in four volumes.
  • ELIMSAT (1992)
    (Commissioned work) 4-volume work whose task it is to separate all established known material from unknown or previously incorrectly-learnt material. Established correctly-learnt material is then discarded and a process of learning new or previously incorrectly-learned material, begun. This is done via a saturation process, which involves intensive oral, listening and written drilling, among other means.
  • DICTIONARY OF MOST INTERESTING EXPRESSIONS IN ENGLISH (1993)
    This is the dictionary you can actually read. Most pupils are unaware of or underestimate the value of acquiring passive knowledge. The biggest outlet for passive knowledge is reading. This work deals with expressions like A1, AGONY AUNT, BLUE MOVIE, FAST FOOD, GREENHOUSE, LAND LINE, PUBLIC SCHOOL, SMOG, TAX HAVEN, GLOBAL WARMING, etc. Many etymological references are given. (Currently being updated).
  • CYCLING IN THE CANARIES (1996)
    This book (written chiefly in Phrasal Verb form), based on a true story, is about two brothers who plan to cycle around the Canary Islands and get themselves into the Guinness Book of Records. But when they arrive on the islands, one of them walks down a manhole and their plans are in disarray. But life goes on... It doubles up as a touristic and historical guide to the islands.
  • TWO WORDS ONLY(or TWO for short) (1998)
    Highlights the 100 most used expressions of Two Words Only in English, most of them being either idiomatic and/or "false friendly". (e.g. NO WAY, SO LONG, FOR GOOD) and translates them into nine other languages, viz.: - Spanish, German and French (which, along with English, are the most important and widely-used languages in the world) - Italian and Portuguese (two other important Latin-based languages) - Catalan, Gaelic and Dutch/Flemish (three languages close to my heart) - Russian (a language of the future).
  • WEBSHOW BOOK (2000)
    Transcript of my multi-media method for advanced students, the WEBSHOW BOOK includes multiple choice exercises with answer key.
  • BROWSING (2000)
    A four-volume work of selected idiomatic speech. Includes multiple choice questions and answer key.
  • A CONCISE WRITING COURSE (2001)
    Here we deal with formal and informal letter writing, paying special attention to accuracy in grammar, spelling and punctuation, good organisation of your ideas, appropriate vocabulary and appropriate register. However, because "the times they are a changing", most company communication, except for strictly official letters and documents, is done via email. We explore emailspeak including email do's and dont's.
  • SPRINT (2001)
    See PRogress In No Time. A fast but very complete course for beginners covering all that is necessary to reach a competent level of communication within the shortest time possible. Intended not only for beginners but also for 'rusty' pupils who wish to do a rapid revision before attempting to reach a higher level of English. The record for successful completion of the course is 15 hours. The average time is 22.5 hours.
  • SHUTDOWN (2001)
    This book is a thorough revision of all known material, discarding new material completely. (Amounts to an abbreviated form of ELIMSAT).
  • DAWN (2002)
    Deals with major pitfalls of Spanish-speaking pupils. The book is written in Spanish so that the reader may concentrate completely on the points in question without being distracted by words or expressions he might not understand in the corresponding explanations.

    • BOARD GAMES

  • MODAL LOGIC (1999)
    Since text books can be tedious and often fail to address the real problem with modality, ie. accurate oral reproduction (once the passive stage has been successfully completed), the matter calls for a new approach. Such a complicated subject as modal modality could be far better dealt with using real-life situations since pupils could relate to their logic without having to use their imagination. However, putting all the modals, including their primary and secondary meanings, into a suitable single workable method would have meant writing a (probably not very interesting) play. A board game seemed the easier option. It has an accompanying introductory booklet.
  • CROSSWORD - THE LIMITED PHRASAL VERB CW (1998)
    A crossword which deals with the first 300 phrasal verbs a pupil studying the subject would probably come across.
  • CROSSWORD - THE ULTIMATE PHRASAL VERB CW (1998)
    A giant phrasal-verb crossword in which anything goes. This is English at the highest level of colloquial communication. If you don't know expressions like EGG ON, BUTTER UP, KNUCKLE DOWN and PISS OFF, you won't be able to do it. Here the pupil is subjected to full-exposure English, she/he is not protected as she/he usually is in the language-learning world (practically all methodology is understandably prepared to suit the pupil's level). But don't worry, this would test even the crossword skills of native speakers. And you never know, you might END UP (oops, there's another one!) teaching English one day. The work is intended as a follow-up to Phrasal Verb Boulevard.

    • MULTIMEDIA METHODS

  • THE WEBSHOW (1996)
    Covers idiomatic speech, principally verbal idioms and proverbs. The background is the story about a young boy growing up in Ireland in a sinister environment. Guess who, ha, ha!! (Duration 48 min)
  • CULTURE VULTURE (1998)
    This is a series of exercises in quiz form about writers, poets, artists and composers. It also covers History, Geography and Science, among other educational subjects. This method is indirectly related to Second Aids in so far that certain grammar structures must be used in the answers. If you're a fan of The Spice Girls, this method may not be for you. If you watch Big Brother and read The Daily Star, this method is definitely not for you.
  • WEBSHOW 2 (1998)
    Like Webshow 1, also covers idiomatic speech and proverbs. The background theme is a war between the U.S. and Mars.

  • EXPOSITION - CYCLING IN THE CANARIES (1997)
    An exhibition whose theme is The Canary Islands. The cycling aspect of the first "expedition" to the islands is, for reasons which will become obvious, of secondary importance. Instead, it covers the history as well as the present reality of this marvellous archipelago which the ancient Greeks called The Fortunate Isles. It aims to demonstrate that these wonderful islands are much more than just sun, sea and sangría.
